MG Gundam Barbatos (Newtype Coating)

Model Kit
$129.99
Discontinued

To commemorate the US launch of Odenkan Paint, we worked with Odenkan to produce the limited-run MG Gundam Barbatos (Newtype Coating).

Odenkan applied a glossy metallic finish on this popular kit using their proprietary plating tech, typically reserved for chrome cosmetics. The result is a visually striking yet durable finish. Due to this labor-intensive manual process, the run was limited to 150 kits.

Includes:

  • Mace x1
  • Sword x1
  • 300mm Gliding Gun x1
  • Foil Seal Stickers x1

Questions

Question
Man this is beautiful. If I didn't already have this kit in its box, I'd scoop this up in a heartbeat.

Question
Is this a prebuilt kit? Cause how does this work with nub marks
Answer
This is not a pre-built kit. It will have a few nubmarks but they are difficult to see since the majority of this kit is white. Furthermore, you can cover up some of the nubmarks with metallic Gundam Markers, Dspiae Markers, or Molotow Markers as well.

did not expect this from IBO

I had a hard turn away from ibo kits and was never impressed with them but wow this thing is incredible! All the joints are sturdy and hold up well against gravity and the weight of the weapons, the finish makes the whole kit look incredible! The nub marks left behind can be dealt with by some metallic gundam marker. Was a much different build than I'm used to and a refreshing project! I didn't have too much issue with getting pieces to fit together except on the barrel of his gun which i should have taken the precautions that are advised here. Very nice to include where to watch out for the tight fits and how to avoid any stresses or breaks. I really liked that the kit came with gloves to work with, I usually use latex gloves anyway but the sentiment is great!

Beautiful Finish

Absolutely stunning. The only reason it gets 4 stars is because the mace doesn't really want to settle in his hand. Otherwise, great build.

Great looking set with one flaw....

Well, i am new to the whole Gundam Spiel but not to build miniatures. So some of my first Gundams have been already been very challenging, like the MG Extreme Unicorn and PG Unleashed RX78. But i really love the Titanium Series and sadly i was only able to pick up the RX-93 which is just .... wow.... So i was more then stocked to see a co-lab for this Gundam since i really liked its esthetic and now with close to Titanium finish it was a no-brainer. And i was right... what a fun build... what a great looking model.... BUT... Unlike real TITANIUM FINISH models this one was produced with the normal Gundam assembly in mind. Which makes sense... where i want to go with it.... A lot of the parts that have been finished and recolored are not undergated.... this will leave spots on the parts and sometimes very visible. Not from afar... not when displayed... but if you build it... you will see it and you will see it later as well. Maybe i missed something and should have bought metallic pens as well? But in that regard its given away home run.... Still the build and the colors are great... it looks tremendous... So be aware of this little flaw and be prepared...
