MG Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka (Newtype Coating)

Model Kit
$159.99
Out of stock

To commemorate the US launch of Odenkan Paint, we worked with Odenkan to produce the limited-run MG Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka (Newtype Coating).

Odenkan applied a glossy metallic finish on this popular kit using their proprietary plating tech, typically reserved for chrome cosmetics. The result is a visually striking yet durable finish. Due to this labor-intensive manual process, the run was limited to 150 kits.

Includes:
  • Twin Buster Rifle x1
  • Beam Saber x2
  • Shield x1
  • Pedestal x1
  • Foil Sticker x1
  • Water Transfer Decal x1

Tips & Advice before you build from Team Newtype:

General:
The fitting of the base kit is very tight even before the chrome finish, so some pegs just do not go in, especially in the chest. Stripping connector pegs is pretty necessary (via sanding sponge or hobby knife) when the connection is tight.
Head:
For the head, there were already fitting issues w/ the base kit. The most common problem is that the chin doesn't push through all the way, so stripping the connectors of the chin is necessary (be careful not to damage the chin itself though!). Another issue is the ear gimmick this kit comes with. It's a really small peg with a thin hinge. It's very important to strip the peg of the moving ear piece.
Hands:
The hands on this kit are white, which means they are also plated. The ball joints require a good amount of stripping/sanding so that the plastic does not stress or fracture from the friction between the wrist connection point and the ball joint.
Most problems can be solved by stripping the plated connector peg(s) via sanding sponge of hobby knife.

Finished product is awesome but build is painful

Don't let my 2 star review discourage you from getting this. I'm giving the build experience a 2 star while the finished product appearance is easily a 5 star. As a beginner, the building of this is quite painful. Had to strip nearly every single peg and slot just to get things to fit and snap together. I actually didn't know any better and bought this on a whim without reading the description because o always wanted a Wing Zero Custom and it was like the only MG of it I could find. I actually broke a piece on the chest and had to superglue the whole piece onto the chest. Even though I find the building experience quite painful, I thought of this as a way to test my mettle and tested it it sure did.

Great set with one flaw...

I already had purchased the Barbatos Newtype Edition and it was a blast to build and looks just great. So it was a no brainer to get this pone as well... i like the model and wanted to give the Newtype Edition another run. The build was easy enough but be aware that some of the runners are separated and can cause confusion where which part is... the A runner will be separated in 4 different pieces and one of them was connected to another runner (with zip ties) which confused me to the point that i thought i had missing parts. (sorry Brandon :P) However, the finished build is more then worth the hassle. However, my model had one big flaw and i want you to be aware of it and check on yours as well and decide for yourself if it is worth a return or not. The runners for the small wings were bend. And i do not mean a little bit. It was several inches. Sadly the wing parts were to but luckily only at the tip of the wings. They are not fitting together at all and warm water did not do the trick to bend them back. However, after it was build i saw that i will not see it when displaying the set since these wing tips will be hidden behind the main wings. So not a big deal for me... but as said.... check on your, i am not sure if that happened during the drying process or since it was maybe laying to long in direct heat, but then more runners and not only these 2 would have been bent i guess. Anyhow... this is just a "keep your eyes peeled" remark and not really a complaint since, as said, i can deal with it and will not display this model in another pose or in a different place... All in all a great looking model with a great color coating... cant wait which one will be next... Another remark given the question above: The weapon runner is NOT coated. Only the armor parts and wing pars are coated. @Newtype: How about the Sinanju Stein Narrative Version...?
