This is a very, very simple kit that was released back in 2001. There's not even a transparent effects part for the beam saber. It's very quick and easy to build, but the end result isn't very satisfying. Lots of very obviously hollow parts. No mechanical detail. Horrible articulation.

The HG RGM-79 GM is definitely a good choice for anyone looking for affordable army building kits. This kit specifically is rather dated, and comparing the finished product to the more modern recreations of the Rx-78 and Guncannon, there’s things to be desired. This kit is definitely one that deserves a remaster. Being that it’s already a dated kit, it’s design is rather limited when it comes to poses. The design of the waist also hinders high kicks, you won’t get up to a 90 Degree angle. The arms and legs are not double jointed, there’s no abdomen crunch but there is some side-to-side movement with a dedicated piece to hide the peg. Pose potential leaves much to be desired, but is definitely far from worthless. My kit holds together fine without any modifications, it is a very solid finished product that holds together lovely and can get some acceptable battle poses, but don’t expect anything too crazy. Worth mentioning is the hand design. The included beam spray gun is very nice, but if you want your GM to hold other weapons, i.e. the bullpup machine gun from HG GM Sniper 2, he will hold that just fine. Overall, a solid kit with some decent articulation, and despite its older design it holds up well with modern kits. 8/10 Recommended for Army Building or a cheap and quick build that will still look great.

I know there are a lot of mixed opinions about the color and regardless of what you consider authentic it is a very nice color. For all of the high grades I've done so far this is definitely the most straightforward easy build almost at an almost entry grade level. It's also very inexpensive like an entry grade another thing that makes it great for a beginner. The articulation is definitely limited and some of the parts like for example the beam saber not having the clear red beam was definitely a bit of a bummer but for me at least I was not going to display this with a beam saber anyway since I reserve that for more of my hero suits. I would probably have rated this a little lower but at this price point it's a solid purchase.
