Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 Gray is a finely textured satin primer, recommended to be used on areas that will receive a glossy finish at the end. (Alclad2 for example). If we use the standard primers, such as Mr. Surfacer 500 for example, we will have to polish the standard primer to be able to build up the shine on the Alclad basecoat. We can remarkably reduce these efforts when we use a primer which is more on the shiny side if that makes sense. Can be thinned with Mr. Color Thinner and Mr. Color Levelling Thinner.

Question
How many kits does one jar usually last?
Answer
My estimation would be, if you are priming EVERYTHING with 1 layer of primer, then you could probably get 1-3 complicated MG's out of it, 1-4 simple MG's out of it, and 4-ish HG's. But bear in mind this is an estimation.
The reason why is that you can pre-thin this primer (pour jar contents into a DSPIAE paint dropper bottle, fill jar with Mr. Levelling 1 and 1/2 times) use it with the same airbrush needle/nozzle and PSI each time, and have a relatively big dropper bottle of primer ready to go. I would think that since Bandai kits are so well made, most don't usually have surfacer imperfections like car model kits, you'd be doing 1 layer of primer on your kits and then be ready for your base color in no time. Even though the bottle is tiny, it's a lacquer paint, and you can really thin these MR Color paints out. Most people agree with a almost 60 thinner 40 paint for Mr Color, or 1 jar of mr color with 1 1/2 mr color jars amount of Mr Levlling into a paint bottle. Hope this helps, again, just an amatuer estimation.

What is the difference between this and Surfacer 1000? Also is this thinned and ready for airbrush use or?
Answer
For surfacers, the greater the number, the more fine the paint particles are, so this will be easier to apply on pieces that have smaller gaps/panel lines. These are not pre-thinned, so you will have to thin it before using it in an airbrush.
