Like most people, I kind of raised my eyebrow at the price, but about 10 minutes after opening this and trying it on some things, I’m 100% converted. It’s faster than traditional sanding and was truthful about the fact it leaves no scratches…which was pretty perfect for my application. It’s also easy to clean when it gets clogged- just like my INFINI sticks, you can wipe them off on your tshirt (or tshirt rag is probably smarter) and keep going- no packing tape required…at least for the plastics I use. The bottom line is that I’m ok with spending up for a tool if it’s high quality and works well enough to justify it… and this is. Could you find a cheaper alternative that works just as well? Possibly, but it’s more likely you’d end up buying more than one glass file in your search and that would potentially be more expensive…with no guarantee of finding one that works as well as this one does. So just buying a quality item out of the gate (pun intended) is usually cheaper ironically. BUT I wouldn’t buy the huge $45 kit w/the recover etc. Just this smaller raser (or the big one if youre working on larger areas) and a white balancer and you’ll be good to go for most things…but everyone’s application is going to be different as well.
