To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Gunpla, the RX-78-02 Gundam joins the High Grade model kit series based on its appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin!
Featuring updated injection molding techniques, this Gundam kit comes with interchangeable parts to recreate the Early or Middle Types of the RX-78-02 as it makes its journey during the One Year War.
The Early Type features a two shoulder magnums, vulcan guns on its chest, an asymmetrical forearm-mounted gatling gun, and rear-mounted cannon; while Middle Type includes symmetrical parts all through the body for its iconic appearance.

You need nippers as a minimum, a sanding material would help but isn't required.

Good kit to have
It's a good kit but backpack loosely hold the beam sabers or shoulder cannon. It comes with a lot of accessories. You can build either the chests for the Gundam to suit your choice in ascetic. You can pose it any way that you like.

Spiritual RG
From what I heard the RG version of the RX-78-2 was a bad build, and this one is a solid substitute. That being said it isn't the same level of intricacy as a RG kit, but is indeed a great deal better than a standard HG. Build quality is fantastic, and has a ton of surface detail like an RG kit. The option to choose between two "builds" for a different look is cool too. If you can get one it's definitely worth it, and looks great once complete.
