To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Gunpla, the RX-78-02 Gundam joins the High Grade model kit series based on its appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin!
Featuring updated injection molding techniques, this Gundam kit comes with interchangeable parts to recreate the Early or Middle Types of the RX-78-02 as it makes its journey during the One Year War.
The Early Type features a two shoulder magnums, vulcan guns on its chest, an asymmetrical forearm-mounted gatling gun, and rear-mounted cannon; while Middle Type includes symmetrical parts all through the body for its iconic appearance.

You need nippers as a minimum, a sanding material would help but isn't required.

Great Kit
This Is the first HG Kit I have ever built.
I really enjoyed working on this kit.
some pros of this kit are... Great articulation, Good detail and good weapon/hand variety.
some cons of this kit are... Included stickers suck (Buy waterslides for this kit) and Loose joints.
Overall I would recommend this kit to any beginner.

IMO this is the grandaddy to have unless you can shell out for the PG unleashed.
It gets demerits because the shoulder mounted cannon doesn't stay in position as well as it really should, and the wrist mounted shield ratcheting action is very loose and hard to set.
Minor demerits. If you're old enough to gunpla, this is the grandaddy to start with.

Good kit to have
It's a good kit but backpack loosely hold the beam sabers or shoulder cannon. It comes with a lot of accessories. You can build either the chests for the Gundam to suit your choice in ascetic. You can pose it any way that you like.
