As a teenager I built a bunch of HG models and remember loving them. Now 20 some years later, this model popped up on my google while watching IBO. Figured I’d give it a shot as the first MG I’ve done. Could not be happier. Everything fit perfectly and the quality of materials are phenomenal. Easier than I expected for an MG but I took my time and trimmed and polished most exterior parts. The weapons and gimmicks are awesome and it can do any pose I’ve thought up with no problem. The mechanical skeleton is such a cool design too. Safe to say I once again have the Gunpla bug and couldn’t be happier.

There was only 1 piece on the leg frame that I had to cement but the rest of the build was solid. The axe on the hand was a little finnicky and would fall off easily when posed but is fine when left in one position. 3rd MG kit and is my favorite so far.

The Barbatos design is definitely not traditional. It's very slim, especially in the waist region compared to other kits. However, it's accompanied by sturdy joints that can move around quite a bit. It has many sharp edges that accentuate the unique design. Mechanically, the MS itself was very enjoyable and clean. Not many challenging parts of the assembly (I had a little trouble with attaching the head), and it had great posing potential as well. I did feel like the weaponry was a little difficult, as it was hard to keep in place unless I added a bit of superglue to increase the volume of the piece. Regardless of the mechanical flaws, it has amazing potential and is still such an entertaining build. I do recommend also purchasing water slide decals for this kit because the normal stickers don't really look nice.
