Lo, and Behold! IBO Fans, Rejoice!
Finally! An IBO set that does not suffer from the infamous IBO curse!
I have built the Gremory, Asmoday, and now the Sigrun. When building the Asmoday and Gremory, I noticed a fatal flaw with the base frame design that the IBO sets share. The joints, in an attempt at more pose-ability, are extremely weak and frail. This is present across ALL joints in both of the sets Ive built, as well as multiple other IBO sets my friend has built. We take joy in building these Gundam sets together, but the IBO curse has not been afraid to ruin this tradition we keep.
Until now! When I first saw the Sigrun, I was weary. Another IBO set could spell doom, especially when you see how many stickers there are for the face alone! But as I put this set together, I realized; this set does not share the same framework that carries the infamous IBO curse! Rejoice! Bandai did not curse the entire line with such a wretched curse!
IBO curse aside, the Sigrun is an extremely satisfying set to build. With a lance, shield, and a tether gimmick for the shield edge pieces, the Sigrun has just enough accessories and bonus features to hold itself up compared to other HG sets (I wrote this review recently after constructing the new Daribalde set, which I still consider to be the greatest HG set to ever exist). Along with its adequately sized arsenal, the Sigrun has some great pose-ability! (Youll see I've posed mine in one of Silver Chariot's famous poses) Unfortunately, the Sigrun does suffer from one hair-pulling flaw; the stickers were not intelligently created or designed. There are 6 total stickers for the head alone, 4 of which are these irritably tiny, microscopic stickers that LOVE to slide around after you put them on. Buyer beware, you will want to be extra careful when applying the stickers, or even consider using something like a fine tip paint pen instead.
A great set for building enthusiasts that looks great on display!
