Fantastic for Hasegawa, OK for Bandai

While this is probably the best Macross kit Hasegawa has ever made, it still has its fair share of problems in comparison to competitors like Bandai and Kotobukiya. The product images in hindsight probably used plastic cement or putty to fill in seam lines, which by the way are just about everywhere in any Hasegawa snap-fit (of which there are only like five, four of which are just remolds of the VF-1). On this model most can be ignored, save for a particularly garish vertical one on the both 'hips' right below the bottom of the air intakes. It also requires a bit of glue for a few parts, but nothing really too bad. That being said, it really does make up for its shortcomings, as it's mostly molded in color except for the knees for some reason (off-white, dark gray, and clear for the sensors) and it's honestly massive, with about the same neck height as the Sazabi ver.Ka, towering over the honestly horrible Hasegawa VF-1 Battroid model I have (pro tip: don't buy it). It also has 2.0 Mg-style hands, with the connected fingers and knuckle ball joints. While it may not be a fantastic model, you have to keep in mind how low the bar is for Macross models, as even the cheapest non-plamo transforming valkyries are like 60-70 bucks. One last thing is that all of the black details for the S-Type (two antennae/visor) are either painted or waterslides, though the A-Type (one antennae/two cameras) looks very solid without any extra work (which is how I'm ultimately displaying it). Seeing as this is a 2006 model, I feel more confident in giving some more Hasegawa models a try while we wait for Bandai to restock theirs or for Max Factory or Wave to finally make their Macross stuff widely available in the states. PS: Don't even try to attach it to any action base, there are zero ports anywhere
