Are the weapons compatible with the RG Unicorn?

No. The RG hands have a protruding tab to lock into the weapon handles while the HG does not. The mounts are also different between the two kits.

Is the backpack connector compatible with the HG Unicorn (Unicorn Mode)? Could you make a Full Armor Unicorn (Unicorn Mode) if you had both kits?
Answer
No. That is actually a separate kit. HGUC number is 178 for green psycho frame and 199 is the red psycho frame. The odd thing is 178 doesn't come with the beam halberd.

February 17, 2025From the manuals, it looks like both kits share the same backpack connection so it is possible. But the Destroy Mode is slightly taller so you might have some issues with standing the kit.

Beautiful kit!
This kit is sorta an event when you buy it. It's box is very thick, packed with runners, and it looks stunning when complete! Aside from some small flaws like the loose head and small leg sections that sorta fall apart (which are both issues that can easily be fixed with cement and super glue) this kit has great articulation, looks, weapons, and build. Definitely get one if you're thinking about it, because you get a LOT of bang for your buck.
