Hell Knight Syl

Model Kit
$85
In stock

Riding forth from the flames of the underworld, Hell Knight Syl emerges in striking 1/12 scale from Border Model. Blending dark fantasy with commanding battlefield presence, this dramatic kit captures Syl clad in sinister violet armor, mounted atop her fearsome demonic steed beneath a moonlit sky.

Inspired by gothic legend and infernal warfare, Syl’s design features sharp horned armor, arcane accents, and intricate sculpted detailing throughout both rider and mount. The armored warhorse is equally imposing, outfitted with engraved barding, skull motifs, and layered plating that reinforces the Hell Knight’s ominous presence.

Engineered for builders of all skill levels, this kit features snap-fit assembly—cement-free and paint-free construction—allowing for an impressive finish straight out of the box while still offering excellent potential for advanced painting and weathering.

More frustrating than fun.

To begin with let me explain that I’m not a pro builder or anything like that that. I’ve got maybe 200 builds under my belt and 98% of those are unpainted. For the most part those are Bandai Gundam models. I’ve recently branched out to try other brands, Ms General (great kits) and a few others that were ‘Meh’ but still in the realm of doable as far as pieces fitting etc. That being said, this kit contains two models- Syl (a figure) and her steed (a horse) so I started with the figure (that’s how the instructions have you start- with the head) ok- here’s where I started realizing this wasn’t good- there is a light up gimmick (part of why I purchased it) and it works well enough but the front and back parts of the head don’t fit flush- so I had to use glue here. Then there’s the helmet armor (which has horns you need to attach to the outside) and those just fall out unless you glue them- and the side wings of the helmet will also fall out unless you use glue as well… see where I’m going with this? This continued through the build of the body.. not the whole thing- just parts. And whoever designed the runners I don’t believe has ever done it before because they have gates when they don’t need them and regular cut off points where you’d think there would be gates. The pre-painted parts are nice- only they cut them out of the runner to do it and didn’t clean the parts before painting them- so now you have to try not to take any paint off while your trying to clean off any extra runner. The feet have the typical hinge post to connect to the legs but they are so loose if you lift her quickly enough they just fall out. She comes with a bow and a quiver of arrows but there is no place for her to hold the quiver. No shoulder strap no strap on the saddle- nothing. And a sword. The sword has a spot for the magnet (which is used to turn the lights on and off) but the magnet will only fall through said hole if you try and put it there….. then there’s the faces (if you don’t want to use the lights) they give you 2 pre printed faces and a bunch of eye decals…. Only no blank faces for them. So in order to use the decals you have to remove the pre painted ones decals off? It makes zero sense. I had to stop building this kit 3 or 4 times because I was so frustrated. And I haven’t even begun to build the horse yet. Mainly because I’m afraid of all the problems I may have with that that I don’t want to deal with. I could go on and on.. My wife thinks it’s comical with how many problems I’ve had with this. The only thing this kit has going for it is that it looks cool. Other than that? If you don’t mind spending all your time and a whole lot of glue building it, go for it.
