Older, but far better than the sand brown version!
I've seen some rough reviews for this kit, and they're not fair takes. Yes, this is an older kit, but anyone doing customization should be able to overcome most of the kit's flaws.
For example, the pegs for the arms can easily be replaced with a ball/socket set from the Ballden Arms set, or using the chest-mounted arm sockets of the Galbaldy Beta.
The head is also quite spacious for mounting a smaller version of the HGUC's Dom monoeye socket.
Now, why this is better than the sand brown Tropen? The weapons runner.
To date, I've seen four sand brown Tropen kits, two of which I own. Each kit's weapon runner is warped so that when you assemble the Rakaten, the 90mm, all four fausts, you will quickly notice that one side sits higher than the other.
For anyone who plans to customize (paint) such a kit, your work time to make those weapons halfway decent will balloon in such a way that you'll quickly lose all motivation to finish the kit, or throw out the weapons and use replacements from either the Purple Tropen or HGUC Zaku F2.
I suspect the warping issue was caused by trying to do too many narrow/complex parts on the same sprue (because the purple Tropen doesn't have this issue.)
That said, I will always recommend this kit. It's got alot of room internally and externally for upgrades, and even stock, it's solid for the price.

not as good as the 2006 dom
an older HGUC Dom featuring a bazooka and a heatsaber missing the submachine gun and the panzerfausts from the sand brown version

This is NOT the 2006 Dom mold
I once thought this kit should be a parts variant of the 2006 Dom/Rick Dom kit and only realized later that this Dom Tropen kit is actually earlier. Released in 2000, this Dom doesn't have the clear piece for the visor, a moving eye or a color separated heat saber; it takes some effort to make it look good.
Since this kit is one of the earliest HGUC kits, I can't really blame it for being lame. But please be aware of its age before buying -- don't expect the wrong thing like I did.
