not as good as the 2006 dom
an older HGUC Dom featuring a bazooka and a heatsaber missing the submachine gun and the panzerfausts from the sand brown version

This is NOT the 2006 Dom mold
I once thought this kit should be a parts variant of the 2006 Dom/Rick Dom kit and only realized later that this Dom Tropen kit is actually earlier. Released in 2000, this Dom doesn't have the clear piece for the visor, a moving eye or a color separated heat saber; it takes some effort to make it look good.
Since this kit is one of the earliest HGUC kits, I can't really blame it for being lame. But please be aware of its age before buying -- don't expect the wrong thing like I did.

A good reminder for how far HGs have come...
Recent HG kits are so good that you often forget about how mediocre they can be in the past, but the Dom Tropen serves as a reminder that not all HG kits are great. The Dom is a chunky boy and has limited mobility around the legs, but its 2 worst features are 1) the hand assembly falls apart quite easily when trying to hold the bazooka 2) the head is poorly designed and didn't actually fit onto its polycap until I applied some plastic cement. Having recently built the GM Intercept, Gundam MkII, and Jesta Cannon, I can't help but feel a little disappointed by this kit. That being said, it does look decent and will stand up on its own as long as you don't try to play with it too much.
