2.7/5.0 chonky boi

Title says it all. Of course this is a tanky, blocky mobile suit so you probably weren't expecting to put this thing in poses it rightfully can't physically accomplish. That being said and forgiven, the polycaps barely hold the legs in if you even move them a bit, the hip joint frequently falls out from below and has to be reinserted. You can kind of only pose it one way which is just standing there with a wide stance and that's about it. maybe a stand makes it look like it's flying. dynamically its very limited. the pros: the white/gray plastic on this is the perfect hue and doesn't look glossy and fake. Panel details are very nice and come out well with a little bit of effort. Big shoulder mounted backpack guns are always a plus. This could be a better kit if the chonky engineering could get an update from the polycap-less wfm hgs, but somehow I doubt this suit will get a revise, although seed is popular so it might have a second go, who knows? I would only recommend this kit if this is one of your favorite suits. Haven't done the MG but hopefully that is a better option.

Just about perfect for a HG

[Summary:] the HG Dynames was nice, and slightly better than I'd expect for a 2007 kit, but you can't tell the Virtue is that old just by looking at it. Colour separation is better than some modern kits, it does just about everything you'd want it to and has all of its signature mechanics. It's sturdy, solid, beautiful, stands out, and is very anime-accurate. I've been looking at art and screenshots and with just a bit of paint, you can't tell the difference. The MG is obviously much better, but if you don't want to spend 100 USD, this is absolutely, without a doubt, worth it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [Issues:] 1. no ab crunch, only yawing rotation -counter point: It's a big, tanky gundam that is surprisingly sturdy. I don't need an ab crunch, and prefer it with its current stability. You can still pull off the landing, bent over pose by angling it at the leg-waist joints. -----2. transparent parts with green sticker behind them -counter point: I recommend getting some metallic green for any HG00 kits, and things like the HGAC Shenlong. A sharpie will also do great, but even unpainted they look fine. If you won't paint and really hate non-coloured transparent pieces, then I guess this isn't for you. -----3. A few minor colour-correcting stickers, and tiny bits that should be gray with no stickers. -counter point: Gray paint is all you need for the gundam itself (plus white for the GN drive), and the parts are easy to paint. Unlike the Dynames you won't have to paint the chest. If you can't or won't paint: Main stickers are on the back so they're out of sight; the worst part is two symmetrical ones are wrap-arounds. The front stickers just go on the legs, and they fit quite well and blend in. Some topcoat will make them indistinguishable. Last bits that need yellow are on the inside of the "containers" and bazooka; there aren't any stickers for these, but they're easy to do (do them before assembly). The MG actually doesn't colour separate these ones to yellow, and the MG's art and advertising photos don't show it painted either, so I guess they just retconned it. Some shots show the inside of the "barrels" as gray, which you can do if you like, but I'm not sure it's the canon cannon (bazooka). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [Other notes:] The arms are single-jointed, but bend about 110 degrees which is pretty decent. The internal arm structure is odd: there's a long internal joint from the shoulder to the elbow, and a sort of inner frame on the forearm that is completely hidden. The arms together can hold up the cannon without issue to recreate the burst mode, and a single arm can hold the cannon too, though it may sag if you nudge it. ----- The "containers" are colour separated in two shades of gray, though for full accuracy there are a few bits that you could also paint standard gundam gray to really make it look great. They have handles to be used as hand-held weapons, and these neatly and securely fold in when not in use. ----- The chest has two sections that lift vertically to accommodate for the burst mode, and the two sides of the torso rotate to give the arms extra range. The back containers are well articulated to deploy their cannons, which have small tabs to make it easy to pull them out. ----- The bazooka's lower barrel extends diagonally down and forward, revealing the inner section that does not rotate but I think that's fine, plus the inner GN nozzle. The yellow inner barrel sections pull out, but there's no easy way to do so. It's not too difficult, you just need to figure out a method that works for you. The two handles are well articulated to fit in both hands at the same time, unlike most HG guns (Wing Zero). The handles can be detached, as one of them goes under the bazooka when held in one hand. ----- Comes with beam saber effects, unlike the Dynames. The beam sabers are securely stored in the knees. ----- Just in case anyone didn't know, this can't transform to Nadleeh.
